Mixed media artist

Susanna Stone was born in Glasgow in 1972. She graduated from Cheltenham College of Art and Design in 1994, with a BA (hons) in Fine Art. Whilst at college her work was chosen for the Waterstones student prize, and she was awarded the Summerfield Trust Travel Award. She used the money to travel to India and has travelled extensively since.

Susanna has been working as a professional artist since leaving college, and has her studio in Battersea, London.

Susanna is a painter working in a variety of mediums, particularly oil paint, plaster and the result of corrosion on metals, she approaches her work by laying down a rough ground of these materials over which she then places a more carefully rendered motif of her choice. Her main interest is worn and weathered surfaces which guide the choice of materials, while her observations of flowers and images from her own travel photography and sketches inspire the motifs.
